Jamacho Gumba

The legendary hike to Jamacho Gumba is the absolute highlight of the Nagarjun area. Starting from the Phulbari Gate, the trail consists of a beautifully clear, stone-paved staircase that climbs steadily through the dense, shadowed forest. It is a moderately challenging, highly rewarding vertical workout that is widely considered one of the best single-day hikes in Kathmandu.

Once you reach the 2,128-meter summit, you are greeted by the sacred Jamacho Monastery, a small Buddhist stupa draped in colorful prayer flags, and an army lookout tower. The peak offers an absolutely breathtaking, completely unobstructed panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley floor on one side, and a jaw-dropping view of the snow-capped Himalayan range—including Langtang and Ganesh Himal—on the other. It is the perfect half-day adventure before returning to the residence to relax by the pool.
