Patan Durbar Square

Situated across the Bagmati River in the historic city of Lalitpur (the “City of Beauty”), Patan Durbar Square is globally celebrated as a masterclass in fine Newari craftsmanship. The square is notably more compact and artistically dense than its Kathmandu counterpart, showcasing a breathtaking array of stone carvings, metal statues, and multi-tiered royal palaces.

The undisputed jewel of this square is the Krishna Mandir, a striking multi-tiered temple built entirely of stone that stands as a pinnacle of local architectural genius. Visitors can spend hours wandering through the highly acclaimed Patan Museum, exploring hidden inner courtyards, and viewing the sacred golden structures that dot the immediate area.
